Credit Crunch Diet

Written by The DietsToday Team
Here at Dietstoday.com we are big believers in little changes going a long way. Often weight gain can happen in a short space of time whether it be during the Christmas season or holiday time. After which we promise to get back on the treadmill by going to the gym and joining various slimming clubs, spending our hard earned cash on costly initiatives that we counteract with binging when we can’t take anymore. This awful cycle continues.

Gaining a clearer perspective on diet and lifestyle can help us in our quest to both maintain and lose weight. We are bombarded with miracle weight loss promises ‘lose 7lb in 2 weeks’ or ‘12 day countdown to your bikini body’. These types of outlook are rather unhealthy. What is wrong with ‘lose 7lb in 6 months’? or , using our Online Calorie Counter ? Imagine reading this article 6 months from now having lost 7LB without the need for crash diets or expensive gym memberships. This can be achieved through small changes to diet and daily activity.

How many of us look back at old photos and remember the days when we were ‘that thin’ or have rummaged thorugh old clothes which we can no longer fasten! Over time many of us gain weight due to all the bad little choices we make whether it be having that extra biscuit or glass of wine. And what a difference they have made. Imagine a build up of good little choices that we could have made such as bothering to use the stairs instead of the escalator, or walking the dog for that extra 5 minutes. Now what a difference they would have made!

All is not lost as we start today; moving more, burning up extra energy, turning down that extra sweet that we don’t need! Here are some ideas and you can do them all for free. No matter how small the task, stay positive and focussed.

• One biscuit won’t hurt, none won’t hurt either!
• Make an unnecessary journey up the stairs at home.
• Volunteer for errands at work that involve getting out of your chair
• Use your lunch hour at work wisely, walk to the shops perhaps.
• Cook a meal, move around your kitchen and burn some calories before you eat the food.
• Wash the car yourself (and save some money)
• Stand up during the add break of your favourite TV show, standing up burns more calories than sitting, maybe stretch a little.
• Embarrassed to go running? Walk around the local park.
• Join in with kids playing in the garden, a couple of minutes of football gets the blood pumping.

You will be able to think of many more yourself. Good luck with your new approach to moving and using energy. Remember these little things, make a great BIG difference.
